South Brooklyn Community High School

In 2008 DTE underwent a series of planning meetings and workshops with teaching artists and teachers at the South Brooklyn Community High School in Red Hook.   Over the next five years DTE will organize and implement arts education programming to improve the educational experience of every student at SBCHS. 

• Poetry & Performance class with teaching artist Jive Poetic
• Students will explore their own stories and find their voices as they explore spoken-word poetry, rhyming, and rap
• TheatreWorks
  
• An after-school devised theatre workshop led by teacher Sydney King and teaching artists Jive Poetic & Robert Martin
  
• Visual Arts class with teaching artist Eduardo Rabel
• Students will learn about line, color, and other artistic principles as they explore How We See The World & How The World See Us
  
• Digital Expressions with teaching artist Jive Poetic & science teacher Justin Wedes
• Students will learn a variety of computer applications to help them express their unique points-of-view
